Double Vision
I see that you're in my way,
expectant woman
We look alike,
don't we
You move
to stop the sun
from shining on my mind
to stop time
to stop time
And I have sympathy
I know why you stand there
I know why you can't let me pass
I know you are made of steel and pain
I am like you, woman
But now, I am present
And I now know, what everybody knows
you cannot stop time
you cannot stop clarity
you could not stop that thing from happening
you cannot stop me from healing
you cannot stop me from fighting back
this body is mine
it belongs to no one but me
Move back, woman
I am glass, I am iron, I am white light, I am night
I summon the winds
I change the tides
I crack dimensions
and stitch up psyches
with needles with thread with fire with metal
When we finally meet, who will yield?
expectant woman
We look alike,
don't we
You move
to stop the sun
from shining on my mind
to stop time
to stop time
And I have sympathy
I know why you stand there
I know why you can't let me pass
I know you are made of steel and pain
I am like you, woman
But now, I am present
And I now know, what everybody knows

The Nightmare
Do you see the crow watching?
Why is he watching?
There is no answer.
The mind. The body. The heart. The soul.
Seams ripped out.
Dreaming of the black peace.
Baby Baby Baby
The stem was cut roughly, and I bled
But we were together.
I was underwater, dark waters, but swimming.
Moving towards you.
And then they tried to drown me
But I shook shook shook my way back
They twisted my tongue
But I wouldn't stop grunting.
They shoved me into an electronic coffin headfirst,
again, and again.
But I meditated with the gurus in the color orange
and fought my way out.
And in the moment when it was closest
When my racing mind was terrorized
When they sent my family out of the room
When the sea turned into strange faces and
pin light, screams, tension, medicine
In that moment the crow flew in.
And he watches.
And since then, every single person I ask
does not know
when he is going to leave.
For all of their training, for all of their love,
for all of their expertise, for all of their pills,
they have no answers.
None of them know how to open a window.
Why is he watching?
There is no answer.
The mind. The body. The heart. The soul.
Seams ripped out.
Dreaming of the black peace.

Maybe an elephant with its broad back and slow pace
Will carry me to sleep
Will put one foot in front of the other
slowly heavily
and before the night falls
I will be dreaming
Inside the womb with my child
Connecting with him before he's born
Holding onto each other
Bracing for the coming storm
The roof of the house is peeling off slowly
Soft tornadoes I see them everywhere
Twister twister you are simply coming for me,
quietly dancing your way straight to my mind and body
And I have to learn to learn to learn
that fear is only temporary
to let myself be flung to the cliffs and under the ocean
There is no more time
There is a crystal that dangles over my forehead
Grandfather guide me
Grandfather warrior remind me of what its like
after the ravaging stops.
Will carry me to sleep
Will put one foot in front of the other
slowly heavily
and before the night falls
I will be dreaming

D, D, D, D, Dear Dark.
In the country that I live,
the trees move when the wind
blows.
On the mountain that I face,
rocks tumble gracefully,
respecting each other's turn.
Along the river where we are,
echoes of waves fly, punctuated
with salt.
I can make images come alive
but you will not come near.
I can touch a silver cord in every animal
but birds, they fly on.
The poetry of the world
is on fire, roman candles
Every drumbeat sounds
for your birth, I have made sure of it.
And I wish that your energy
would recognize it all and appear.
the trees move when the wind
blows.
On the mountain that I face,
rocks tumble gracefully,
respecting each other's turn.
Along the river where we are,
echoes of waves fly, punctuated
with salt.

La Noche.
The drums sounds of a night
glistened with vintage flame
Sleepwalking, or am I?
Echoes of your bird name,
lilacs undone on the sidewalks.
I cannot lay and wake
but only with the Night,
Holy, buried Night,
Lakes, moons, swims, pianos, reverberate
photographs;
Blurred, obscure.
The red dress I wore
The suit you crumpled and crushed
In our forest, silent film,
Gestures tell secrets
Dreams of imaginary memories amplify,
“Off the map, where the wild things grow.”

Americans for Prosperity.
You and I
We will rally
for love
(for love)
for truth
(for truth)
for blue sky
(for blue sky)
for the now,
for the why.
We will rally
for love
(for love)
for truth
(for truth)
for blue sky
(for blue sky)
for the now,
for the why.

Swooning noir.
Beside the tidal wave of memory
your form appears,
cursed blackbird.
We knew our destiny but
You said we would do it
You said we would do it
You wrote the words on sand
You wrote the words with your plume hand
Years later I am here,
I am here still
I am doing it
I am without stop,
Without tears
I am unyielding
I am eternal
I am my own world
I am alone
Without fear
Without fear
Where are you now?
Flying above waters unknown?
Did you find escape from the escape?
Are you now pronounced in the mundane,
well versed in the everyday,
doing your best to forget the ancient language
you once spoke?
By your own hand,
by your own black wing
by your own black wing
you shuddered at the sound,
shuddered at the wind,
You, chasing fugue
in your noir dreams,
shuddered at the wind,
You, chasing fugue
in your noir dreams,
You flew on
You, dreaming on the ocean
You, gone.
You, dreaming on the ocean
You, gone.

Canto.
I am a gypsy forest for you.
With a band of feral animals behind me.
We will make noise,
the good kind.
The kind that will be heard.
The kind that saves.
And you will rouse,
you will find,
you will remember,
you will return,
you will abandon,
you will jump into the river,
with your brothers and sisters,
under a new moon.
With a band of feral animals behind me.
We will make noise,
the good kind.
The kind that will be heard.
The kind that saves.
And you will rouse,
you will find,
you will remember,
you will return,
you will abandon,
you will jump into the river,
with your brothers and sisters,
under a new moon.

Liberté.
In language, a ladder
In silence, a window
In music, transcendental sky
In the heart, a wheel
to make a circle,
to make eternal
the other 3.

In the heart, a wheel
to make a circle,
to make eternal

Cuba, y tu
Photographs, plastic toy cameras
and one little boombox
(En el sol)
they will do
Galapagos in this lifetime,
me prometistes
Blackberry on my palm,
footsteps beneath your feet
Dated quietude, el mar.
Recuerdos de sueños
sunshine for shadows
(Adieu)
What remains~
but for me to collage together
all that we never did do.

Room.
Silent black feather
In a darkened room
Intoxicating chords encircle you
Your low, slow moaning
Beneath my unveiled moon.

Beneath my unveiled moon.

Of Animalia, Of Nature.
The animal on the inside,
the one that won't fail
to pull me down
these snowy, mudslide hills
by its scissor teeth
No photography
no astrology
no genealogy
no more topography
To what kingdom, what phylum,
what class do you belong, animal?
To whom do you belong?
Kingdoms, phyla, classes, distinctions blur
as you tear me apart.
This sunshine, white on winter
This Vivaldian savage scene
This expulsion of mundanity
This crimson shimmer on horizon, animal,
You and I,
Dolorous dancers in a mutual dream.
the one that won't fail
to pull me down
these snowy, mudslide hills
by its scissor teeth
No photography
no astrology
no genealogy
no more topography
To what kingdom, what phylum,

Remaining.
Dog
Where have you gone?
Under trees' dresses
Lost in a forest
Dog
Waves break on the cliffs
Where I last heard you
Where I still stand
Dog
Bury me with your bones
If I can't know where you are
Then let the violent waters
be my home.
Where have you gone?
Under trees' dresses
Lost in a forest
Dog
Waves break on the cliffs

1.15.2011
Noise.
Riot, oh my riot heart.
Suddenly, in the midst of the torrents
I heard nothing
and ceasefire commenced.
But I long for your rubber bullets,
pounding on the shields of the weak,
the ordinary folk who couldn't
beat their own heads without passing out.
They could never withstand
black holes of repulsive dreams
or 14 years of deserted rain.
They can't imagine welcoming
a standing ovation of pain.
I need you, riotous storm.
You, singing alongside tornadoes,
flying through caverns of canyons
of chaos.
You, endemic magic,
dusting everything with infection.
You, like a bored lover,
you leave without notice,
without thought,
without me.
Now, with emptiness,
now, lost.
No violent night, no delirious refrain.
Now, facing inescapable, leaden time
while I wait for you again.
